Well, I believe I have an answer for this age-old question when it comes to getting those hard boiled eggs just right! And my solution is not to boil the eggs, but to bake!

Why to Bake instead of Hard Boil?
Before I dive into the 7 ways to savor, let’s chat about the difference between hard boiled and hard baked.
When boiling, water is used to cook. Essentially the eggs are steamed, and this process is considered ‘moist’ heat. On the other hand, ‘dry’ heat is the method used when hard baking quail eggs.
Both cooking methods are effective when it comes to cooking quail eggs. However, I believe there are a few advantages when it comes to hard baking versus quail eggs hard boiled.
First, when hard baking, the shell has to be removed before the cooking process. When removing the shell beforehand, you don’t have to worry about the hassle and mess of removing the shell once those eggs are cooked!
Second, when hard baking, especially those tiny quail eggs, a mini muffin tin is needed for the cooking process. The mini muffin tin will allow for a flat shaped bottom. And the benefit – you won’t have to worry with your eggs flopping over!
Third, when hard baking, you are easily able to see the cooking process of the yolk. This means that if you want a runny yolk, snag them out of the oven early. Or if you prefer a solid yolk, leave those eggs in a little longer.
Either way, the guesswork of how long to cook goes away! Plus the worry of overcooking also disappears!

So I saw the concept, but gave up on the reality due to my avocado availability reality.
However, a spark of hope was ignited when I asked my farmer, “Do you have any unique ideas for cooking with quail eggs?” She told me about how another farming vendor friend gave the baked avocado a go, and I found myself excited!
So even though you don’t need a mini muffin pan to hard boil [bake] the quail eggs, an avocado makes a delicious substitute!

- 1 quail egg cutter
- 1 mini muffin tin
- 2 dozen quail eggs
- Set oven at 350 degrees.
- Grab quail eggs, quail egg cutter and mini muffin tin.
- Using quail egg cutter, cut the top off the quail eggs. And pour quail egg into muffin tin.
- Place mini muffin tin into oven and bake for 10-15 minutes.
- I usually check my eggs at 8-10 minutes, because I prefer of ‘runny yolk.’ However for hard yolk eggs, consider 10-15 minutes.
- Once baked to preference, serve and enjoy!
