Roasted Cabbage Recipe

When you’re needing a quick, simple and nutritious meal consider my roasted cabbage recipe!  My recipe doesn’t require fancy equipment or loads of  ingredients.  My roasted cabbage recipe along with the tips below will help you feel good about eating and keep meal time exciting!

  • Cutting Board
  • Knife
  • Sheet Pan
  • Spatula or Large Wooden Spoon


  • 1 head of cabbage
  • 2-3 tbsp avocado oil


  • Preheat oven to 400 (or 425 degrees depending on your oven).
  • Grab cabbage.  Remove the outside leaves with your hands.  Next, use a sharp knife and cutting board underneath to carefully remove the stem.  Then slice the cabbage in half.  Next carefully cut out the cabbage core.  And lastly, cut cabbage into slices. 
  • Next grab a large sheet pan.  Place cabbage slices onto sheet pan and drizzle with oil.  
  • Bake in hot oven for 15 minutes. 
  • Flip cabbage slice with spatula.  Bake for another 10-15 minutes.  
  • Once the cabbage has browned or caramelized on the edges, remove from the oven.  Salt, pepper, and enjoy!  


I always have ground meat prepped for those nights (and mornings) when I need a quick meal.  Each week, I will prep at least 4 pounds of ground meat so that I can get a head start on an Italian dinner or Mexican meal.  
For instance, ground beef and cabbage are a great combination if you’re looking to increase your vegetable intake.  However, the kids may be happier with a ground beef and pasta for dinner.  Either way, mealtime harmony is achieved with cooking extra ground beef.   
In addition to ground beef, I also like to pair Homemade Fennel Sausage with my roasted cabbage recipe.  This is actually my favorite pairing because it makes for a great breakfast, lunch or dinner.  Plus the fennel adds an extra oomph to the roasted cabbage. 
Roasting lots of other vegetables as well as cabbage can also become a delicious veggie bowl.  For instance, I used leftover roasted, sautéed greens, and homemade fennel sausage for an nutritious, energy boosting breakfast.
Another super quick idea to liven up the roasted cabbage recipe is to purchase bratwurst from your local rancher.  The tangy Teriyaki bratwurst or the sweeten Hawaiian bratwurst add another dimension to the roasted cabbage.  
I also add various toppings to the roasted cabbage recipe to keep it tasting new.  For instance, feta cheese and/or crumbled bacon dress up the recipe.  As well as fresh herbs and spices like garlic, rosemary, and fennel.
